Profile
Tony Allain born in the Channel Islands and has been painting for over
30 years. Completely self-taught, and a firm believer in painting
direct from nature. Subjects are varied, ranging from still life,
street and town scenes, marine and landscapes with an interest
in light and atmosphere. Painting with a brisk impressionist style
which is suited to the use of oils, although he produces equally
successful pastels and watercolours.
Was
a committee member and exhibited with the Channel Islands Visual
Arts Festival in Cherbourg, France in 1976. Elected as a member
of the Royal Watercolour Societies Art Club, Conduit Street,
London in 1976. Has a painting on permanent display in the
Marine Museum, Castle Cornet, Guernsey.
From
1987 taught painting for the college of Further Education in
Guernsey. After moving to England in 1992 continued running
his courses until 1997 at the Rose Green Centre of Arts in
Sussex. Has been a demonstrator for arts groups and societies
for several years.
Has
had 12 solo and many group exhibitions in Guernsey, Alderney
and the UK. Now lives and works from Sennen Cove, Cornwall.
